What is CERT
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a group of individuals that have taken basic training designed to prepare you to help yourself and to help others in the event of a natural or man-made event that overwhelms or delays the community’s professional responders. CERT members can assist others by applying the basic response and organizational skills that they learned during their CERT training. These skills can help save and sustain lives until help arrives. CERT members also can volunteer for special projects that improve a community's preparedness.
Katy Area CERT is a 501 (c) (3) organization made up of volunteers. Meetings are held on a quarterly basis and throughout the year additional educational training classes are offered in Animal Response, Ground Search and Rescue, HAM Radio, Moulage and basic First Aid.
